My sweet Oaklynn girl,
Happy 1st birthday! I can’t believe that it has already been one year that you have been in our lives, and at the same time it feels like you have been with us forever.
The joy that you have brought into mine and your dad’s life is unlike anything that I have ever known. You are our world. You aren’t just any baby, there are so many things that make you, you!
The way you light up and smile when your dad or I walk through the door is one of my favorite things in this world. I always love to see the joy on your face anytime you smile, but those smiles when we come through the door are my favorite because it lets us know that you love us too. I also love those Oaklynn cuddles and kisses, I wish those moments could last forever. Part of me wishes that you could stay little forever.
There are so many things that I am going to miss as you grow up. I’m going to miss you falling asleep in my arms. I’m going to miss being able to pick you up and put you on my hip. I’m going to miss those crusty looks followed by sticking your tongue out at us. I’m going to miss the way you dance with those flapping arms and bouncing legs. I’m going to miss the cute way you waddle when you walk. I’m going to miss the way you call me mama. I’m going to miss that cute gap in between your teeth. I’m going to miss the way you try to beat box with your Dad. I’m going to miss the sound you make when we ask you what a cougar says. I’m going to miss the way you scrunch your nose. I’m going to miss the way you get excited, how you point, open your eyes wide, and say “oooooh”. I’m going to miss watching you learn, discover, and explore all the new things in your world. I’m going to miss waking up to hearing you talking to yourself in your crib. I’m going to miss giving you a bottle and holding you every night. I’m going to miss the way you try to say “I love you.” I’m going to miss hearing that cute giggle. I’m going to miss how excited you get when Mickey Mouse Clubhouse comes on. I’m going to miss the days when you were sad and only wanted your mom to comfort you. I’m going to miss the way you try to stretch with Mom. I’m going to miss the high pitch squeal you make when you are excited to see someone. I’m going to miss your little body. I’m going to miss my baby girl.
Every stage with you gets better and better. I can’t wait to watch you grow up but at the same time I am going to miss my little girl. Thank you for bringing the most joy to my life that I have ever known. Thank you for making me a mom and allowing me to know the true love of a mother, it is unlike any other. Happy birthday princess. I’m going to miss my baby girl, but in reality you will always be my baby girl.
